You Know it's Bad When...

You know it's bad when...

...the Twins can't even win a game against the Royals.

...your trombone players have absolutely no clue what they're doing, tell you so, and then proceed to screw around when you're trying to teach them something.

Other than that, things are going pretty good right now. I won't get into semantics, but it's nice to not have to work 14 hours for a couple of days.

Jake, Nims and I watched Closer tonight. I had seen it before with Alison, but it was just as good the second time around. If you haven't seen the movie, then you won't understand what I'm commenting on (nor should you read if you have any desire to see the movie, which you should). Although all the characters in the movie are flawed, and there is a point in the movie that you despise all four of them, I'd have to say in the end the Doctor comes out as the least despicable. All though he is perverse in many ways, he doesn't hide it. His complete honesty redeems him in part of some of his unlikeable qualities, while the other three characters in the movie all carry out at least one hefty lie. While the honest man gets kicked around and toyed with by several people, his honesty gets him what he (thinks he) wants in the end, while everyone else's lies end up costing them. I'm not sure if I'm settled on this conclusion, but through a second viewing, this is where I stand.

So if you've skipped the last paragraph and found yourself here, go see the movie Closer, then read the previous paragraph.

Tomorrow I shall grill an entire chicken. Should be fun.
