Up North
Greetings everyone,
I am currently at home in Duluth for the weekend. I hadn't seen my folks in awhile, and it was high time I got the hell out of Eau Claire before I injured myself/someone. I unintentionally brought nothing to work on with me, so I sit here with a completely free Saturday in front of me. Rawk. Only problem is, the stress of this past week has graced me with a cold. I've been doping up on Vitamin C and sleeping a lot, so as of now it's not too bad. Let's hope it stays that way.
Went down to the most wonderful record store in the world, The Electric Fetus, and picked up 2 CD's. The first was one I thought I would never buy (Nada Surf's new CD "The Weight is a Gift"). I had never liked Nada Surf back in the mid-late 90's, so I was convinced they would be crap. However, I listened to a couple of tracks at the store, and was pleasantly surprised. So once again, Andrei is right...sigh. The second CD I purchased solely on a whim and bought Ryan Adams & The Cardinals "Jacksonville City Nights." It's pretty twangy country, but the good kind, and Adams has an amazing voice. So far I'm diggin it.
I also went to JCPenny and took advantage of their sale and got lots of new teacher clothes (yessss). Add to that some new tires on my car (both clothes and tires c/o mom & dad), and it's been a sweet weekend.
It was kind of depressing not having Branden around yesterday at seminar. Besides a completely half-hearted attempt at recognizing it by Dr. Pattee, no one else seemed to notice/care. I guess us music folk stick pretty close, so I don't know how well the other student teachers knew him. Regardless, it would have been nice to have some sort of notion that they even knew it happened.
In related news, I wrote a speech for commencement, and it's been chosen to be given orally before the graduation committee on Thursday. Wish me luck!
Time for lunch.

Good luck on the speech!!! If you want to practice in front of someone ... don't call me. Haha, I jest, I jest.
I agree about Seminar. I really noticed it at lunch and the afternoon session ... and I wish Deb hadn't have said anything, because she made it worse, I think. Jill shoulda said something.
Yay Nada Surf! I'm not completely sold on the entire album, but most of it's good. Do you have their "Let Go" album? That's the one that came out before this one. It's GREAT!
And go JCPenney mega-sale. I spend $300 there last weekend, but I've got outfits that'll knock your socks on their asses.
