sick day
So last night while watching the Super Bowl (who played again? do I care?), I started to feel sick to the ol' stomach. But no problem, nothing a good 8 hours of sleep can't fix, right? Wrong. I wake up this morning, and it comes back. It kind of reminded me of that nauseated feeling you get with a good hangover, but I haven't drank in days. Anyway, I ate my cheerios and thought to myself, "this will go away, I'll go into work and I'll be fine." Man, wrong again. Head into work and spend the 45 minutes before my first lesson deciding whether I'd be able to make it through a 15 minute lesson without sharing my breakfast with the kids.
Luckily, the first kids didn't come (stupid kids), so I sought out the office lady for some substitute numbers to call so I could go home. I probably called 8 people and had zero luck. So after sitting at my desk worrying if I'd have to try really hard not to get sick into my recorder, I was told to go home and they'd cancel music classes. Great...that's 6 teachers who don't get a prep today. I'll be the popular guy tomorrow!
So I'm at home now, and I don't feel too bad when I'm sitting down. Standing up and walking around brings those wonderful feelings back, so I'm thinking it was a good idea to go home. Luckily I have 6 sick days worked into my contract. I feel bad leaving, but hey, when you're sick, you're sick. Maybe it was that cheeseburger at Grandma's yesterday.
I think I'll use this day to get ahead on my lesson planning. That would be nice, and I could use my prep time to get things set for pep band, the band concert, and start piecing together the spring program. So much to do!
By the way, I'm coming to Eau Claire this weekend. Word has it that Maggie's gonna be in town. If anyone wants Chipotle, I might be able to make a stop on my way out, but you best be ready with cash when I arrive.
