Cold Feet?

Note: Not an April Fools prank.

So, a discussion has been had about why we really want to go out west. A following list of pros and cons resulted:

Pros:
-Something we've never done before
-Adventure
-Mountains
-Exciting
-Make fresh start

Cons:
-Really like the Midwest
-Want to stay close to family
-Getting married in MN, don't want to be far away
-Moving to WA is expensive
-I know people in MN (both personally and professionally)
-Above statement makes getting job here easier
-Already have MN teaching license
-More jobs in MN/WI

So, I don't know if we'll be going to Washington this summer. Would it be exciting? Yes, but there are a lot of reasons to stay here. Moving almost seems irresponsible. Alison has a young brother who is just starting High School, and 3 elderly grandparents. I don't really see my folks enough since they moved to Duluth, and hardly ever see my sister. I think the possibility of moving far away will always be in the back of our minds, and will remain an option, but for now I think we'll be happier staying here.

On that note...on to a new job search! Anyone know of any good jobs the Twin Cities/Duluth/Western Wisconsin area?

I don't have any plans other than "stay put", but I've been compiling a similar list in my head. There are more interesting jobs for me out in the wider world, but not necessarily where I want to be. It'd be great to work in a shop 1 block down from Symphony Hall of a Big 5, but if it means being as far away from here as I've been from "home"? (Or as far as Greg is now, or Pat might be?)

Time to think about what sacrifices make a better position worthwhile.
