Two things you will probably care little about

Ok...a couple of things, one small, one fairly large, will you care? Wait and see...

First: Baseball (skip this paragraph if you do not care). Kyle Lohse had a pretty decent outing today. Funny how baseball players do better when their job is on the line. I want the Twins to win all the time, but should I feel bad that I wanted Lohse to bomb? Liriano's next in line to get a rotation spot, and Lohse, well...he likes to smash doorknobs. Not healthy. Let's get rid of him.

Second: Uber-weiner kid extravaganza last night. Holy swear-word, there were tons of people. I knew it would be big, but didn't really visualize it in my head. Pretty much every parent in the school (minus the kids in middle school who aren't in band and don't have elementary aged siblings, which numbers around 10) was there, and they packed the sanctuary. Never have I had to conduct a concert below a giant Crucifix. Talk about pressure!

Upon arriving, I discovered that we had no stands. They were left at school. Shit. So, me and the sound guy get in his minivan (T-mins 30 minutes til the concert starts), drive to the other side of town, shove 25 stands into the van, and race back. Thankfully, that was the only major problem. The band played awesome, and the little kids were adorable...kinda made you want to throw up a little. Overall a great experience.

This weekend I'm headed to EC for the Chippewa Falls memorial concert. A new piece is being premiered, but it kinda sucks that the piece even has to exist. I've been reading the composer's blog, and he seems pretty excited about it, which he should no doubt, but I don't think it will be a celebration & fanfare over the arrival of this new work. I think it will be a somber occasion...but I'm sure the piece will be really good.

What else is happening this weekend? None of you college folk should be busy, since we all know that finals week is the easiest week for a music major. No rehearsals, no classes, maybe a few finals, and once you get through your jury, it's cake. Finals week always meant a lot of video games for me. I miss video games...I miss my mom. I miss video games, I miss my mom...

I'm shocked that it took that long to get the mom rips in...

...I'm not shocked at where they came from.
