Headline in the Star Tribune today: 5 Meerkats Killed After Girl Bitten. A girl goes to the zoo with her family, and goes to see the meerkats. Girl climbs up on rock, reaches hand in, gets bitten. Since parents don't want to have girl get rabies vaccine, the meerkats have to be destroyed. WTF?!?! First of all, why weren't you watching your kid? Second of all, why do the animals suffer because YOU do something stupid? Third of all, why do you even get a choice as to whether your child gets the vaccine. If you get bitten by a wild animal, treatment should not be an option! The meerkats are not at fault here. They were just doing what wild animals do in reaction to fingers being shoved into their face.

I hope those parents are happy...Alison and I just saw those meerkats on Monday, and they were totally sweet. Damn, I hate stupid, selfish people.
