The home stretch

This is a culminating sort of week. Tomorrow morning I see good ol' Dr. Davis to see what 6 weeks of crutches got me. Then I drive back to the Eau C, where I have a dress rehearsal tomorrow night at 8:30. Problem is, I forgot to check out Phillips, so I'm crossing my fingers that it's free.

Tuesday brings the last day of tuba in brass tech *tear*. Actually, I quite enjoy playing the tuba, and perhaps I shall continue to practice it once I'm medically cleared to carry one.

Wednesday, of course, is the big recital. I can say I'm not nervous right now, but I will undoubtedly be by 5pm wednesday. I think I can work through it though. At that point, there is nothing I can do but enjoy myself. I don't need to worry about fracked notes or anything else that can/will go wrong, and just enjoy the experience. In the audience will be lots of out-of-towners. Got a mom, dad, sister, sister's fiancee, 2 aunts, a girlfriend, the girlfriend's mom, dad, sister, brother and their exchange student from Thailand...they'll all be there.

So yeah, some crazy stuff going down this week. I have only recently started to feel "old." I see folks around school, and they'll say "what?! you're student teaching next semester? You just got here!" And my reply is always "I know! Isn't that crazy?" It is crazy, I guess. I don't know, I definitely feel ready to graduate. Sure, there are some things I might wish I could do if I stayed longer, but nothing that would justify paying more tuition. Plus, you won't even know I've gone. I'm sticking around EC for all of spring '06, and will be doing nothing but working and causing trouble. So don't cry...yet.

You're Not Old, Pat. If anyone is old, it's me. You're not old until you start to hear that "once you've been around here for 4 ... or 5 ... or 6 ... (glance at me) years, you start to understand" comments.

Nice try.
