At least it gets good mileage...
Well, I certainly am racking up the miles on the ol' baton this week. Wednesday afternoon is the Wind Symphony Conducting Competition, and I will be one of the competitors on John Barnes Chance's "Incantation and Dance," a wind band staple. Wednesday evening I will be conducting the UWEC Trombone Choir on "Themes From Parsifal," an enjoyable Wagner blow. Thursday morning, I conduct in Conducting Lab, and that afternoon I conduct the Symphony Band in their conducting competition. Whew! I'm pretty sure my arm will fall off by friday.
Speaking of Friday, it's the Twins Home Opener! Unfortunately their season opener didn't go so hot, but that's OK. In baseball you don't have to win every game to do well, usually 3 out of every 5 or 6 will put you in good position.
Every day I find exciting new and sadistic ways to deal with our Box Elder Bug problem. Recently I've been luring them into a cup of water and letting them swim, only to their chagrin they do not know how (evil laughter). I don't know if it's better or worse than scalding them with boiling water, nor is it as much fun, but either way I sure wish they'd leave me alone.
Oh look, there's another one. If you'll excuse me...
