Everything is Dust in the Wind...

It's Jazz Fest weekend here in the Eau C, and so far I've managed to avoid it. I've spent my afternoon evening getting a leak fixed in one of my tires, and putting together a mix CD for the big shindig tomorrow tonight. I spent a lot of time on it, and I'm pretty proud and excited. I learned from previous experiences and put music that other people will want to hear/get down to, not just what I think other people should listen to. So look out for that.

On a more serious note, the Pope is almost dead. I think religious conservatives can learn a lesson from the Pope. He had options available to extend his life. He could have gone back to the hospital, gotten hooked up to a bunch of machines, and lived for a couple more weeks perhaps. But he chose not to. He chose to spend his final days in familiar confines, and to die with dignity and peace. Now I know that the circumstances surrounding the Schiavo business were a bit different, but I think all the folks protesting to uphold life at all costs could learn something from the Pope. Is death so bad? Isn't what's awaiting on the other side better than a vegetative state? Where is the true compassion in this case?

Interesting things to ponder on this busy weekend. Have a good one.
