Damn weiner kids
So, I've been through 2 days of Summer Band at South Middle School. I must say, it's probably the sweetest job I've had yet. 4 current or recently-graduated students have total control over a middle school music department for 6 weeks. Right now is 6th grader week, and the kids are finally picking up their instruments and honking out their first notes...if I can call them that. So far everything is great, but my trombone class is way too excited about playing trombone. So excited, in fact that they have trouble paying attention, and as a result finding themselves holding the trombone backwards, sideways, and upside down. Many slides and mouthpieces were dropped on the floor. Kids didn't believe me when I showed them the correct way to hold the horn (but the guy at the store told me to do this!!!). Tomorrow there's going to be a crackdown, and those kids will respect my authoritaiiiiy.
So yeah, on thursday I start my job as produce bitch at Mega East. Not the most exciting of jobs I know, and the 52 hour weeks might get a little long (especially the double shift days of band + grocery store), but getting a paycheck again will be fabulous.
Important dates to remember this summer:
June 19th: My 22nd Birthday, Father's Day, Colts are in Menomonie (come join the Philscapades)
July 2nd: Lester gets married. If anyone needs a place to stay in Duluth, there might be some space in my folks place (where I'll be). We might have some space for you, if you ask nice.
July 23rd: DeYarmond Edison's last Eau Claire show. Should be amazing.
August 6th: Wedding number 4 as High School buddy Andrea gets hitched
August 27th: Sister gets married, completing the wedding-thon of Summer '05
August 29th: First day of Student Teaching at Northstar Middle School
So yeah, the "relaxing" part of my summer is pretty much over. That's OK, I was getting bored (and poor) anyway.
