There will be a test on this later...

So on Thursday as I was writing down the weekend's assignments for the 6th grade band kids, I wrote down that part of their assignment was to bring me candy for my birthday. What a great idea. I totally scored some sweet candy. Don't worry though, I'm not a teacher who completely exploits his students' naive generosity...I shared with everyone. But it's still sweet.

During the weekend previous, I was up in Comstock with my folks fixing up my grandparents old house. Now that they're gone, my family is trying to sort through the accumulated treasures of a couple who lived in the same house for 50+ years. Add that to the fact that my grandmother was a pack rat (who had a storage room just for empty boxes), and you have quite the task on your hands. The other part of the problem is that the children have the delicate task of deciding what to toss and what's a treasure, and on top of that find a way to civily divide the posessions without making anyone angry. I have to say it was weird being in their house without them there; looking through boxes and drawers, finding old notes and pictures. And the everyday stuff was still there, like bills an food. It seemed like at any minute my grandma would come home and go about her daily routine. It'll be real hard on everyone once that house finally gets sold...there's been a lot of living under the Bents banner in that place.

Anyway, today I started at Mega. Stocking produce is a pretty easy job, and the staff is real laid back, so I think it will be enjoyable.
