Back in sanity
Well...temporarily. I'm back in Duluth after spending 5 days in New York City. Let me tell you, 5 days is not enough. I'll be back. We spent the last day in Greenwich Village, visiting my cousing (actually first cousin, once removed...my dad's cousin). ANYWAY, Kevin Bents is a singer/pianist/guitarist/producer/composer living there with his wife and seven year old daughter. He has been living in New York for 20 years or so, and he has a lot of knowledge of the city, music, etc. He showed us all his cool studio recording stuff, and then we visited his wife and daughter at a local playground. That evening, we went to The Bitter End, which is a very famous club where pretty much anyone who was important since 1960 has played, usually before they got real big. They have a list that numbers in the thousands of people who have performed there. It's astonishing. Kevin knew everyone there, and got us in for free. Sweet.
So now I'm back in Duluth. I see the eye doctor tomorrow, and the dentist on Friday. Friday evening I pack up my stuff in Rosemount and on Saturday move back to Eau Claire for 6 weeks. On Monday (my birthday...cough cough), I start work at Northstar.
Even though I know you don't care, will you check out this site? Justin Vernon (of DeYarmond Edison) has recently collaborated with a Milwaukee group, and made music. They call it Hazeltons, and the three tracks on his myspace page are incredible. Will you take a listen? Great! Wait...no you won't.
