Quick Post - Updated...and not so quick
So I deleted my previous post because it was worthless. I'm hanging out at a local coffee shop making good use of their free internet so I can make a more thorough update. Things these past two weeks have been very exciting, but I don't yet feel settled. Here's a run-down of things that have happened...non-chronologically:
Went to the 400 Bar last week and saw the illustrious Mike Olson of former UWEC fame and his band Lake Street Dive. It was great seeing him, since I had not sen him since his exodus to Boston. He is still the same ol' Mike, but now with an East Coast flair. His band was very good, and I was pleased to know that his time at Eau Claire still influences his music and his life. There was a song he wrote about a crazy girl in Symphony Band freshman year who played bassoon. I completely forgot about this girl, and how Mike, myself, and the other brass folks would comment on her oddities from afar. Lots of Eau Claire folks showed up, including Cavis, his hippie sister, Tom, the Hobo, and John DeHaven. Good times werer had.
I went to a Twins game where the Twins played very poorly, and, while I was sitting in the Hoem Run Porch, I did not catch a home run (none were hit).
Alison is down for the week, and last night she got the last of her stuff moved in to our place. It's a bit odd for her to completely vacate her old room all in one fell swoop...it's a bit different for me since I haven't had a room at my folks' place in 5 years, so this move has been more of a shock for her. But, with her fashion and style, the place is starting to look totally sweet.
I signed my contract for my new job on Monday, and now begin the challenging task of planning my classes. This is doubly challenging since I still don't know exactly what I'm teaching, or what resources (read: money) I have to do what I want to do. Hopefully things will work out. So far, I think I'm teaching Middle School general music, a beginning band (6th grade), a middle school band (7th/8th), doing something with the 9th and 10th graders who play instruments (not enough to make a full band), and a to-be-determined high school music elective. That's a lot, but I'll make it work.
So yes, my summer is quickly running away from me, and I don't mind. I have struggled with the slow pace it has taken, and look forward to things picking up again.

Again, Pat, you will be amazing at anything you do. I can't stress this enough.
Sound like quite a load. You'll figure it out...except maybe the general music classes. I don't think anyone has ever figured those out yet.
